What began as a quiet Saturday turned into what is probably the second largest national protest of the year as thousands have gathered at airports around the nation to protest Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration. The order banning non-citizen travel to and from 7 Muslim majority countries has the effect of Mr. Trump’s long promised Muslim ban.
Protestors began the morning at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, then quickly spread to a number of other international airports around the nation. As of the publication of this article, there have now been confirmed reports of protests at JFK, San Francisco International, Los Angeles International, Denver International, Seattle-Tacoma International, Washington Dulles International, Atlanta International, Chicago O’hare International, as well as Portland International airport. Protestors at many of the peaceful events can be heard chanting “build the wall, we’ll tear it down.”
Immigrants and refugees with previously approved legal U.S. visas from around the world have been held, detained, and we’re receiving reports of others who have been deported at airports across the country today.
Late Saturday afternoon Federal District Judge Ann Donnelly of the federal court for the Eastern District of New York issued an emergency stay halting Mr. Trump’s executive order. We’ve attached a copy of the suit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union as well as the order below.
Here’s the protest that kicked all of this off Saturday afternoon at John F. Kennedy International Airport. As you can see in the upper right hand corner, this video has been seen over 12 million times:

As promised, we have attached the stay granted in this case. This copy was provided courtesy of Equality Case Files. To help fund their work click here. The order applies nationwide and provides relief to all legal immigrants and refugees who hold either a green card, student, travel, asylum, or other visa currently in flight or on American soil.
