For most American college students, study abroad is a time to let loose and have fun.

For Amanda Knox, it was a descent into hell.

In one of the most infamous Italian cases/media circuses of all time, Knox was charged with the 2007 murder of her fellow study abroad roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, Italy. Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, claimed they found Kercher stabbed to death in Knox and Kercher’s shared apartment. Knox and Sollecito were subsequently charged with Kercher’s murder.

Knox, in particular, was dragged through the Italian press, with many painting her as a sex maniac, capable of monstrous acts. She was sentenced to 26 years in prison, alongside Sollecito, in 2009.

Then, in 2010, the case was appealed, as it came to light that forensic evidence had been seriously mismanaged. Throughout the next several years, the original verdict was overturned, then overturned again. Finally, in 2015, after serving almost four years in an Italian prison, Knox, as well as Sollecito, was acquitted of all charges.

Now, in a new Netflix documentary set to air September 30, Knox is speaking out about the case that shocked the world. See the trailer here.

Netflix also released two mini-trailers, with scenes extracted from the main trailer. Just as the media portrayed Knox, by turns, as an innocent girl or a cold-blooded killer, the first teaser, “Believe Her,” suggests Knox’s innocence…

While “Suspect Her” trailer suggests Knox’s guilt.

What do you think about the Amanda Knox case? Was she a wrongly-convicted young girl, the victim of a severe miscarriage of justice? Or was something truly sinister at play that night back in 2007?

Watch “Amanda Knox” on Netflix on September 30.
