This Week 2 wide receiver primer highlights matchups that could push players above or below their projected outputs in full-point PPR formats. It skips the unquestioned studs — think Josh Allen or Justin Jefferson — and instead focuses on WRs whose Week 2 environment meaningfully alters their fantasy upside.

Week 2 fantasy QBs: Who to start and who to bench
Note: Streamers named below are typically rostered in fewer than 50% of Sleeper leagues. For final lineup choices, consult the weekly player rankings, updated daily.
Start of the Week
DeVonta Smith at Titans (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Smith was a major disappointment in Week 1 with just three receptions and 8.3 fantasy points. The matchup, however, looks favorable. Tennessee allowed 13.9 fantasy points to Garrett Wilson in Week 1 and posted a top‑five mark in EPA per pass and the third‑best pass success rate — and that was against Geno Smith. Expect Smith to bounce back and treat him as a strong start.

Start ’Em
DJ Moore vs. Lions (Thurs. 8:15 p.m. ET, Prime Video): Moore exploded in Week 1 with five catches for 100 yards and 21 fantasy points, despite an on‑paper tough matchup in Houston. The Lions’ defense surrendered big receiving performances in the opener, and Vegas has the game total in the low 50s, signaling a shootout potential. Moore projects as a reliable starter this week.
Luther Burden III vs. Vikings (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Burden led Bears receivers in snaps and caught five passes in Week 1. Minnesota conceded more points to wideouts than any team last week and ranked near the top in targets per route run. Those numbers make Burden a promising play this Sunday.
Parker Washington at Broncos (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS): Denver looks tough on paper, but Washington has delivered consistently: at least 19 fantasy points in each of his last five games dating to last season, including a 26.5‑point performance against the Broncos in Week 16. He’s firmly in my starting lineups until circumstances change.
Terry McLaurin at Cowboys (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): McLaurin managed just 3.4 fantasy points in Week 1 while teammates produced. Still, Dallas allowed one of the league’s highest EPA per pass marks last week and a generous pass success percentage. That matchup makes both McLaurin and Stefon Diggs attractive starts.
More Starts
- Emeka Egbuka at Browns (1 p.m. ET, CBS)
- Mike Evans vs. Dolphins (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox)
- Jalen Coker at Falcons (1 p.m. ET, Fox)
Wide Receiver Streamers
- Stefon Diggs at Cowboys (27% rostered): Dallas allowed the second‑highest EPA per pass in Week 1.
- Quentin Johnston vs. Raiders (22%): With Ladd McConkey hurt, Johnston could see a larger target share from Justin Herbert.
- Deebo Samuel Sr. vs. Dolphins (13%): De’Zhaun Stribling is out; Samuel tied for a team‑high seven targets in Week 1.

Week 2 Sit ’Em Wide Receivers
Sit of the Week
Drake London vs. Panthers (1 p.m. ET, CBS): On paper Carolina’s defense looked vulnerable to receivers last week, but Atlanta’s uncertain quarterback situation makes London risky. Tua Tagovailoa remains questionable, Michael Penix Jr. is out, and Cooper Rush could be under center again. That instability reduces London’s fantasy reliability despite the favorable matchup.
Sit ’Em
Brian Thomas Jr. at Broncos (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS): BTJ produced just seven fantasy points in Week 1 while other Jaguars targets paid dividends. Denver’s secondary has historically limited him; the Broncos held Thomas to 3.8 points in a Week 16 meeting last season. Keep him on the bench this week.
Marvin Harrison Jr. vs. Seahawks (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Harrison was a sit last week and saw only three targets for 4.3 fantasy points. Michael Wilson and Kendrick Bourne combined for significantly more targets, and although MHJ has had moments against Seattle, this matchup looks challenging. I’d avoid starting him.
DK Metcalf at Patriots (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Metcalf has a track record of producing against New England, so a flex start is defensible on history alone. Still, if Christian Gonzalez follows Metcalf frequently, his output could be muted. PFF noted Gonzalez allowed just one catch for five yards when covering Jaxon Smith‑Njigba last week. Metcalf’s ceiling depends on who’s covering him.
More Sits
- Alec Pierce at Chiefs (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC)
- Wan’Dale Robinson vs. Eagles (1 p.m. ET, Fox)
- Romeo Doubs vs. Steelers (1 p.m. ET, CBS)
