Lionsgate is partnering with LG Channels to roll out a slate of free, ad-supported streaming channels featuring major film franchises and TV series across the U.S. and Canada. The lineup—arriving through the end of the year—will include channels dedicated to Hunger Games, Saw and John Wick, plus themed streams for TV series and a studio-curated network.

Franchises get their own FAST channels

Among the new offerings, LG Channels will bring back a previously run Hunger Games pop-up, this time timed ahead of the theatrical release of The Hunger Games: The Sunrise on the Reaping. The channel will feature the five films released so far in the series.

The horror franchise Saw will have its own standalone FAST channel for the first time, with eight films available and the launch scheduled in time for Halloween. Lionsgate has also been developing a new entry, Saw 11, which adds a fresh installment to the series.

Fans of the action franchise will see a John Wick channel carrying the four existing films; this marks the first appearance of the series on a FAST platform. A fifth John Wick film is currently in development.

More channels and a studio network

In addition to these franchise channels, LG Channels and Lionsgate will add streams for series including Rookie Blue and Ghosts. The partners will also launch a medical-drama-themed channel called Pulse.

A Lionsgate Network would centralize the studio’s films and series on LG Channels.

Separately, the companies are introducing a Lionsgate Network, which will be programmed with the studio’s films and series, creating a single destination for the studio’s catalogue on LG’s platform.

Strategic timing and platform reach

LG Channels delivers content directly on webOS-powered TVs, making these limited-time, curated channels available to viewers without a separate subscription. Lionsgate and LG said the timing of some launches—such as the Saw channel around Halloween and the Hunger Games channel ahead of a theatrical release—is intended to surface relevant titles when audience interest is highest.

Matthew Durgin, vice president of Media Entertainment Services for North America, said the partnership aims to make popular films easier to find and enjoy for free on LG’s platform while enhancing the overall Channels experience.
