Apple TV has renewed the dark comedy thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed for a second season, the streamer said Wednesday. The pick-up means the series will move into a writers’ room now, with production planned for the first half of 2027.

Where the story will likely go next

The show follows Paula, a newly divorced mother who becomes entangled in blackmail, murder and the chaotic world of youth soccer. As she juggles a custody dispute and questions about her own identity, Paula grows convinced she witnessed a crime and launches an investigation that could expose a broader conspiracy and affect her family’s future.

The series mixes dark humor with suspense, balancing personal stakes against a larger mystery. That tone and the unresolved threads from Season 1 are driving the creative push behind Season 2.

Cast and creative team

The series stars Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany alongside Jake Johnson. The broader ensemble includes Murray Bartlett, Dolly De Leon, Brandon Flynn, Jessy Hodges, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg and Nola Wallace.

Behind the camera, the show is a collaboration between Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios. Creator and showrunner Rosen writes and serves as an executive producer, with David Gordon Green directing and also listed as an executive producer. The project was developed and executive produced by Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon, and Bard Dorros represents Anonymous Content as an executive producer.

Behind the renewal

A writers’ room is already assembling to map Season 2, and the production timetable targets the first half of 2027. That schedule gives the creative team time to shape the next arc while allowing the ensemble to return and the production to coordinate with the key executives and directors attached.

On the renewal, Rosen said, “We are delighted to continue the story of MPG and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew. This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email.”
