67,000 Tongans registered to vote on April 24
ABOUT 67,000 Tongans have registered to vote in Tonga’s 2008 General Election, the Electoral Officer Pita Vuki, said this morning.

Pita said that the registration of voters closed on March 31, when about 67,000 voters had been registered to vote in the April 24 Parliamentary Election

Air Chatham starts Tonga domestic service April 14
Nuku’alofa, Tonga:

AIR Chatham, Tonga’s second domestic air operator will begin its service to Vava’u and Ha’apai on April 14, Russell Jenkins, the airline’s Tonga General Manager, said this morning.  Russell said that they will initially fly twice daily to Vava’u, and three times weekly to Ha’apai from Monday to Saturday.

“In May we will introduce new flights to ‘Eua at the same time increase the Ha’apai flights to be done daily.

First phase of Tonga mineral exploration begins

NAUTILUS Minerals Inc. started the first stage of its mineral exploration for high-grade minerals in Tongan waters today.The Country Manager of Nautilus Minerals in Tonga, Paula Taumoepeau, said that an exploration ship the Kilo Moana from the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology of the University of Hawaii arrived at the Port of Nuku’alofa on March 22 to conduct surveys.
