Influential U.S. environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Monday wrapped up a week-long visit to Chile with a strong plea to protect Patagonia’s pristine rivers from pending hydroelectric projects.

“I’ve been to every country in Latin America and on every continent in the world. And there’s no place as pretty as Chilean Patagonia. That’s why I come here. If that part of Chile was in the United States it would be a national park. No question,” Kennedy told reporters shortly before meeting with President Michelle Bachelet.

In the last week, former Mexican President Vicente Fox has hit up major U.S. media outlets and talked about the juiciest details of his new book, “Revolution of Hope.” In doing so, he has added a fresh voice to the immigration debate.
“The xenophobics, the racists, those who feel they are a superior race … they are deciding the future of this nation,” he said in an interview with the Associated Press.

Seven courtiers meet in Brazil to establish bank.  The new bank will be backed by seven countries.  Following a meeting in Brazil, finance ministers said the Bank of the South would play a “central role in the new financial architecture of the region”.  The bank will have its headquarters in Venezuela, the country that originated the idea.
