Ha Noi — Viet Nam is expediting the process of international economic integration by creating favourable conditions for foreign investors, including those from the US.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet said this while receiving General Electric (GE) vice chairman John G Rice in Ha Noi last Friday. He congratulated Rice and GE for receiving the licence to build an electric generator and component factory in the northern port city of Hai Phong.

HA NOI — Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) yesterday reported strong earnings growth for the nine month period ending September 30 and planned to list eight subsidiaries on the stock market in the fourth quarter.

The State-owned company reported VND143 trillion (US$8.8 billion) in revenue for the first nine months, up 4 per cent over the same period in 2006.

The company generated $6 billion from exporting 11.6 million tonnes of crude oil over the period.
