Vancouver priciest city for business

Vancouver is once again the most expensive city in the nation to operate a business, but Calgary has moved into second place and Chilliwack ranks third, says a report issued today by KPMG.  The high Canadian dollar may have chipped into the manufacturing sector, but it has also challenged the country to become competitive in other ways, and the country is holding up well, the study shows.

Global downturn won’t hit China badly

China’s economy will experience only a moderate slowdown in 2008 because its diversified exports and strong domestic demand will help it stay resilient amid a weakening world economy, economists said yesterday.”We expect the Chinese economy to grow by 10 percent this year despite a US-led global economic slowdown,” said Liang Hong, an economist with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. “Strong domestic demand, especially investment growth, is expected to sustain the overall GDP growth, though the export growth is set to slow down.”

US recession may hit developing nations hardest - Pravda.Ru

UNCTAD, the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development, said that world economic output should rise 3.4 percent in 2007, compared to 4 percent last year, when foreign exchange shifts are factored in.
