Ash cloud stretches across S America - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
The eruption of a long-dormant volcano in southern Chile has created an enormous cloud of ash that has spread hundreds of kilometres to the east, across Argentina and Uruguay.
The authorities in Chile have set up a 50-kilometre exclusion area around the Chaiten volcano and evacuated at least 6,000 people.

April 11 (Bloomberg) — Chile’s central bank, under pressure from lawmakers and exporters to weaken the peso, plans to buy U.S. dollars in currency markets to shield the economy from global financial turmoil.“The central bank’s council decided today to intervene in the foreign-exchange market to strengthen the international liquidity position of the Chilean economy,” the bank said in a statement on its Web site last night.

As the name suggests, honey laundering involves disguising drums of the sticky stuff from China by selling it to a third party—usually a distributor in another part of the world—then re-packaging it and re-exporting it, so that its source remains unknown.
According to an investigation by the Seattle Post Intelligencer, several tons of Chinese honey have this year passed through ports in Tacoma, Washington, and Long Beach, California, after being fraudulently repackaged as the product of Russia.
